Carpet floors are preferred for living rooms, family rooms, and bedrooms. It brings a cozy and inviting ambiance, along with color and texture, to a room. Styles range from functional to luxurious. 'Soft' is trendy, and neutral colors are commonly chosen, too. Locally owned Havertown Carpet offers a large selection of all types of carpet in Havertown, Pennsylvania. Carpet pile

Carpeting is constructed by looping fibers onto a backing. Loop pile, which tends to have a low profile that offers limited cushioning, is the most durable carpet floors. 'Pile' is defined by both density and height. Cut pile styles are created by cutting the loops at the tips. Fibers are twisted or turned to increase durability. Note the TPI, or turns per inch, on each product. Saxony, the most popular cut pile style, is traditional carpeting that has straight and even fibers.

Carpet Fibers

Nylon is the fiber that is chosen by a majority of homeowners. This perennial favorite bounces back after compression, and thus, can retain its original look long after installation. Since 2009, this tough and durable fiber has had 'competition' from Triexta. While nylon is treated for stain resistance, Triexta is inherently stain resistant. Other popular synthetic fibers include acrylic, which has the same look and feel like wool, and polypropylene, which repels water.
